What a thrill to discover one of your sixmonthold's most impressive skills. Getting what she wants. This month is a landmark in your baby's path to selfexpression, when she begins to show signs of trying to communicate her desires.
Her sounds and gestures may be subtle or unmistakable. A tap on your hand. Eye contact. Or distinctive sounds, different from her usual babble or cry. Sixmontholds can usually sit up alone for a few moments and inch or "scooch" across the floor on their tummies, a precursor to crawling.
Though your baby needs to be on breast milk or formula for at least a year, she may be looking to explore solid foods. Don't be surprised if she reaches out and tries to grab the food right out of your hand, a notsosubtle way of getting what she wants.
